About Us

Out of Kristopher Harper’s passion for Fuchsias, He started collecting and researching the fuchsias and other plants that were introduced by James Lye, a Victorian fuchsia grower and hybridiser from Market Lavington in Wiltshire in 2009 as a hobby. By 2012 his collection of fuchsias became recognised by Plant Heritage as a National Plant Collection.

In 2016 Kristopher established a business called ‘Harper & Debbage’ as a small independent nursery to facilitate the growing and selling of fuchsias plants, as he was keen to share the plants from his collection and the wider range of older and unusual fuchsias which exist, which due to the slow decline in specialist nurseries, many of these cultivars were becoming more difficult to obtain. Kristopher is very keen on plant provenance and one of his key principles is that all the plants are homegrown and propagated on site.

Kristopher has started researching and collecting Sisyrinchium and Oxalis. Which he hopes will in time become recognised as National Plant Collections®.

Shows and Awards:

Since 2015 Kristopher has exhibited his collection of Fuchsias at several flower shows. We had hoped to return to RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival in 2020 but this was prevented by the Covid-19 pandemic and in light of this we made an early decision not to attend any shows in 2021 but hope to return to exhibiting in the future.
